Welcome to my 'about me' section. I'm a writer, like you. I've been on Medium for many years--since 2019. My typical day--as the owner of The Narrative Arc and The Wind Phone--includes screening new writers, adding writers, editing essays, and nominating stories for the 'Boost'--as it exists these days.
I'm finding some of you are interested in more help than standard editing work to get your essays in shape. If you want dedicated attention and like a relationship with a coach, you are welcome to contact me. With personal essays and memoirs, a writer occasionally needs a coach who can pull out the emotion of a piece.

My past lives--I was a brick-and-mortar publishing partner in Cambodia for several years. I have an honors BA in English from U of O, and an MEd. from PSU. I taught high school English for several years, and trained other teachers in grading State of Oregon writing exams.
My pubs: The Narrative Arc, The Wind Phone, and Imogene's Notebook.
I'm a nominator with the Medium Boost Nomination Program. In the first year or so of the Boost Program, a full 15% of boosts on platform came from The Narrative Arc.
My primary role as an editor is supporting writers in producing excellent work, and--as a publisher--to showcase it in beautifully formatted and closely-attended publications.
My bylines include Miracle Monocle, The Write Launch, Two Sisters, Open: Journal of Arts & Letters, and YourTango, among others. I've got more than 475 stories up on Medium, and would love you to read a few of them. My published memoir is Love and Loss in Cambodia. I'd love you to pick up a copy. Available in many venues online.
Thanks for reading! Join us at The Narrative Arc, or any of the Parasol publications. Note: we screen each applicant, and our pubs aren't the place for beginning writers. There are many venues for hobby or blog writers. We are looking for seasoned professionals, and those who have worked hard at the craft of writing. If you would like to apply to The Narrative Arc or The Wind Phone, see the Submission Guidelines, follow them, and we'll closely review your application. Thanks!
